Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.
Pretty much everyone wants to live a happy life. But the problem often lays within the fact that many of us do not put in the time or effort to make our dreams a reality.
We often say that we’ll start living our best life on January 1st, but then end up giving up on our New Year’s resolutions just two weeks later.
We tell ourselves that we should wake up in the morning to get a head start on the day. But we lay in bed because it’s cozy and warm.
So what can be done? We need to summon the best version of ourselves by cultivating daily habits over a sustained period.
The truth is that success won’t happen overnight and that nothing worth having in life will come easy.
But when we show up, put in the work, and create consistent habits, our lives will be much happier & healthier as a result.
I want to wake up earlier so that I have more time in the day to do what I love. For months, I’ve told myself that I’d summon the energy to get out of bed and conquer the day. But when 6 am arrives the following morning, all I can think about is getting back to sleep.
I know that to achieve this lifestyle goal, I need to improve my habits and develop a clear motivation for waking up consistently earlier each day.
If we can all show up and put in the work to cultivate better habits, our lives will be deeply impacted by the eventual success that they bring.
We will be progressing into the next chapter of our lives.
We will be more confident in our daily actions.
It starts now.
Attract what you expect. Reflect what you desire. Become what you expect. Mirror what you admire.
Invest in yourself.
Do it now and reap the dividends day after day after month after year. How can you improve? How can you develop a path to ensure that you will see some level of success? Read books, find articles, and watch tutorials on how to become a better version of yourself.
Surround yourself with like-minded people.
Take a look at your inner circle. Are they overly pessimistic? Are they influencing your actions in a negative way? If so, it may be worth spending less time with them so that you can be around more optimistic people.
Eat healthier.
If you are putting junk into your body, it is very likely that you’ll be unable to have positive thoughts and optimal focus throughout the day. I’m not going to tell you to put down the fries forever. Nor will I ask you to stop drinking milkshakes immediately. But instead of asking why healthy food is expensive, ask why junk food is so cheap. Start this change by simply focusing on the healthier aspects of your lifestyle and do more of that.
Embrace the arts.
Nobody wants to sit & do nothing each day. Listen to music. Explore your city’s attractions & museums. Go to the cinema and watch a movie with friends. If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you.
Follow your passion.
Allow your passion to become your purpose, and it shall someday become your profession.
Do you want to learn French? Start a business? Learn a musical instrument? You might as well start now. Set aside a manageable period each day to work on something you love. It may be 10 minutes, 30 minutes, or even an hour. But if you can follow your passion every single day, it’ll at least give you some motivation to wake up in the morning.
Read more books.
If you are currently in the pursuit of happiness, reading can be an excellent opportunity to relax & unwind. Likewise, it can provide valuable insight into how other people became successful. The more that you read, the more you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you will go.
Meditation.
The aim of meditating is to become aware of your thoughts & emotions so that you can guide yourself through any adversity you may face. Take a few minutes to sit back & reflect on your day. What went well? How can you improve? What are you grateful for?
